At Matsuya Ginza’s Orifushi Gift Lounge, we assist with selecting meaningful gifts for life's “orime” and “fushime”—Japanese expressions for life’s turning points. The term "orifushi" also evokes seasonal transitions and moments of thoughtfulness in everyday life. We offer a curated selection of exquisite items, with a focus on newly emerging traditional crafts from across Japan, born through our regional collaboration initiatives.

Rubin’s Kokeshi “Friend”

“Tsugaru Kokeshi,” handed down in Kuroishi City in Aomori Prefecture’s Tsugaru region, is one of the twelve traditional kokeshi styles of the Tohoku region. Among them, Tsugaru kokeshi is known for its diverse shapes and patterns, offering rich variety in expression.
Through the “Matsuya Ginza Regional Co-Creation” initiative in collaboration with Kuroishi City, a new design looking toward the future of Tsugaru kokeshi—“Rubin’s Kokeshi”—was developed and commercialized.
The design was created by graphic designer Taku Satoh, born from deep respect for traditional craftsmanship while offering a fresh perspective.
