Ten years have passed since Rei Kurahashi began her journey as an illustrator and picture book artist. Her works portray warm and nostalgic stories featuring small children and cats as their main characters.

With unique colors reminiscent of vintage foreign picture books and delicately layered tones, each illustration seems to quietly bring its hidden story to life. Every piece is filled with a magical charm hidden within ordinary moments, sparkling like precious jewels.

Held at Matsuya Ginza to celebrate the 10th anniversary of her career, this exhibition introduces her illustrations through A-to-Z keywords, offering a deeper exploration of her artistic world. Throughout the venue, visitors can enjoy life-sized photo spots, costume displays recreating outfits from her works, introductions to the picture books she has created, and immersive video installations that expand the world of her illustrations.

To allow even adult visitors to experience the perspective of children and cats, there is intentionally no fixed route through the exhibition. Like wandering through a secret garden without a map, getting “lost” inside Rei Kurahashi’s world becomes part of the story itself.

Celebrate the past ten years and the stories yet to come, and enjoy a special moment discovering your own favorite piece.
