The theme of this exhibition is “Wrapping.” However, it is not limited to package design or traditional wrapping techniques. From natural objects such as eggs and rice balls, to the traditional Japanese art of origata, to contemporary products and even architecture—the concept of wrapping can be found in many aspects of life. This exhibition presents seven themes surrounding “wrapping” and introduces approximately ninety works and case studies, reinterpreting its essence and unveiling new possibilities from the perspective of care.

1. Exhibition Concept

A bird’s new life is enclosed within the fragile shell of an egg. A gift passed from one hand to another is tenderly wrapped in paper. Our everyday lives are embraced by architecture, while society itself is enriched through the act of wrapping. Perhaps the world is sustained by the ceaseless cycle of what wraps and what is wrapped.

The act of “wrapping” is sometimes regarded as excessive or unnecessary. Yet can we truly say that a state in which things exist exposed, scattered, and unbound is ever ideal?

This exhibition reconsiders “wrapping” as a new design typology that connects the inside and the outside, while embodying a spirit of care. Through a curated selection of approximately ninety works and activities across seven thematic perspectives, it seeks to reveal the essence of wrapping and explore the new possibilities it holds. In doing so, it offers a hopeful vision for guiding the world toward a more thoughtful future.
