From Kesennuma to all of Japan, Martina shares the joy of “feeling happiness through yarn” with her magical world of wool.
This year as well, a delightful space filled with colorful yarns will appear on the 8th floor Event Square of Matsuya Ginza!
On the first day, January 21 (Wed), purchases are limited to Matsuya card members.

Martina Umemura
Martina came to Japan in 1987 as a medical researcher. Shortly after the Great East Japan Earthquake, she began sending yarn to evacuation shelters across the Tohoku region, which led her to establish the Martina Umemura Kesennuma FS Atelier (KFS) in March 2012. She continues to expand her activities to spread a circle of “people who knit happiness.”

Knitting Kit
The second edition of the knitting kit featuring KFS’s mascot “Oscar” and his friends — “Oscar’s Closet 2” — is now available!
The package box doubles as a “closet” for storing your completed creations, keeping the fun going even after you finish knitting.
The "Closet 2 Recipe Booklet" includes patterns not only in Oscar’s size but also in “your size.” Enjoy knitting and wearing matching outfits with Oscar’s zebra friends!

Opal Yarn
Opal is a “magic yarn” that fascinates people with its colorful patterns that appear simply by knitting straight.
From the familiar medium-fine sock yarn to the thicker “Pocchari-kun” yarn made with German wool, as well as cotton-blend yarns — this event will feature a wide variety of new colors specially released for the occasion!

From practical Opal-yarn knit items such as the versatile Haramaki Hat and the Mole Gloves hand warmers, to collaboration pieces like knitted finger-puppet dolls and small knit accessories — we offer a wide range of items that can be enjoyed even by those who don’t knit.
Workshops & Knitting Sessions
We will be hosting workshops and knitting sessions where participants can enjoy creating pieces using Opal yarn. Applications for all sessions will be accepted at the venue starting from the first day of the event.
