This print work was produced and presented in conjunction with a solo exhibition held at Gallery Nomart in 2004.

In his oil paintings, the artist mainly adopts motifs such as cushions and futons that convey a direct sense of texture. In contrast, the prints feature objects with slightly harder and smoother textures, such as potted plants, parts of chairs, and toilet paper.

By repeatedly layering pale tones of silkscreen ink—intentionally subdued in color—onto matte synthetic Yupo paper, the work creates rich, multilayered color within what appears at first glance to be a simple composition and palette.

Furthermore, printing a glossy transparent medium over the surface enhances the texture, resulting in a finish that conveys a distinctive tactile quality.

The result is a work with a unique and compelling tension different from that of oil paintings, born from the artist’s uncompromising dedication to the texture of the image surface and the printer’s equally devoted effort to realize those intentions.
