Matsuya’s Regional Collaboration
A Japanese Summer
June 17 (Wed) – July 14 (Tue), 2026
As the days grow warmer and more humid and the arrival of summer begins to be felt, we present a lifestyle proposal to help you enjoy the season beautifully through collaborations with artisans and makers from across Japan.
The motif for this collection is the “Ginza Swallow.”
Every year, swallows return to Matsuya Ginza and build their nests under the eaves. Cherishing this seasonal Ginza tradition that has continued for more than 30 years since 1992, we have adopted a warm and charming swallow motif created by stencil-dyeing artist Koichi Odanaka.
We invite you to discover products that express the swallow—an iconic symbol of Ginza—through Japan’s exceptional craftsmanship and traditional techniques.

Koichi Odanaka
Based in Shiwa Town, Iwate Prefecture, Koichi Odanaka practices the traditional art of katazome (stencil dyeing). He trained for approximately ten years under Keisuke Serizawa, a Living National Treasure of Japan. Today, he creates a wide range of works, including noren curtains, furoshiki wrapping cloths, and book covers. Hand-dyed using stencil patterns meticulously carved with a small knife, his works are distinguished by their soft, warm character that blends naturally into everyday life.
What is “Matsuya’s Regional Collaboration”?
“Matsuya’s Regional Collaboration” is a project that connects traditional crafts, local industries, culture, and design from across Japan, creating new value by sharing them from Ginza to a wider audience.
