A new 40 mm model, inheriting the classic styling of the Grand Seiko 9S mechanical collection, is now available with a dial inspired by the Hyobaku (Icefall). Hyobaku is a natural phenomenon in which the flowing water of a waterfall gradually freezes over in sub-zero temperatures. The dial captures the breathtaking winter scenery of Mt. Iwate, visible from the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi where Grand Seiko mechanical watches are crafted, expressing both the dynamic power and delicate beauty of frozen waterfalls through a distinctive icy blue-white color and intricately textured pattern.
The case is crafted from Brilliant Hard Titanium, which is lighter than stainless steel while offering superior resistance to corrosion and scratches. Powering the watch is the high-beat Caliber 9S85 movement, operating at 36,000 vibrations per hour (10 beats per second) to minimize variations in accuracy and deliver stable, high-precision timekeeping.
