Grand Seiko SLGH017 Evolution 9 Collection

This model adopts the same Evolution 9 design and mechanical Caliber 9SA5 as the birch forest–inspired dial model SLGH005, while its black dial and pattern evoke the atmosphere of a birch forest at night. Located in the same Iwate Prefecture as Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, the Hiraniwa Plateau—designated as an Iwate Prefectural Natural Park—spans approximately 400 hectares and is home to around 310,000 wild birch trees.

The bold, multi-faceted hands unique to the Evolution 9 Collection and the three-dimensional indexes with a central groove ensure excellent legibility while adding accent to the distinctive dial design. The case combines distortion-free mirror polishing achieved through Zaratsu finishing with delicate hairline brushing, creating a quiet and harmonious gradation of light. Furthermore, the low center-of-gravity case design and a stable bracelet with generous width and balanced thickness provide a secure and comfortable fit on the wrist.

Mechanical Caliber 9SA5 delivers approximately 80 hours of continuous power reserve through its twin barrels, securing nearly double the torque of conventional designs, working in tandem with the Dual Impulse Escapement. It is a 10-beat movement offering more stable precision, equipped with a balance wheel of greater inertia than before.
