"Bad Boy," a name given by the world’s most influential wine critic Robert Parker in praise of Jean-Luc Thunevin’s unconventional winemaking. This ambitious wine was created by the team behind Saint-Émilion’s treasure, Château Valandraud, in collaboration with white wine specialist Athanas Fakorelis. The wine is made from grapes grown in the clay-limestone soils of Domaine Virginie Thunevin, from vines approximately 20 years of age. While Bordeaux white wines are typically blends, this wine stands out for its extremely rare approach of being crafted deliberately as a single-varietal 100% Sémillon, reflecting Thunevin’s bold and pioneering aesthetic.

Swirling the glass releases generous aromas of ripe white peach and fresh pear, followed by elegant floral notes of acacia blossoms. Carefully aged for nine months in oak barrels on the lees, the wine develops delicate nuances of vanilla, honey, and lightly toasted bread, revealing remarkable depth and complexity. The palate is strikingly full and rich. Distinct from Sauvignon Blanc-dominant wines, the dense fruit character unique to Sémillon is beautifully balanced by soft acidity, leading to a refined and lingering finish filled with elegance.
